NEW WORSHIP FRIDAY: REVERE, Lucy Grimble, FAITHFUL, ICF Worship & Unified Sound
The Mystery of Christ
“The Mystery of Christ” is a live project that joined together worship leaders and thought leaders from the US, UK, and South America. Recorded live in Nashville, the new album from REVERE is a response to the act of worship having become more of a growth catalyzer in the modern Church than a holy act of surrender. REVERE seeks to bring worshippers back to the catalytic agency of the glory of God, where human philosophies and popularity do not take center stage but instead point to the source of our reverence.
Ready for the Dawn
In 2020, amid an intense period of writer’s block resulting from the trauma of the pandemic, internal struggles within, and daunting mental health challenges, Lucy Grimble found that any attempts to write felt insignificant and even pointless. “Ready for the Dawn” was the song that broke this silence and numbness, and in fact kickstarted the writing process for her forthcoming album. “Ready for the Dawn” embodies the theme of interplay between dark and light, shadow and sun, which runs through the album, as she explains:
“During those bleak times, sometimes the sunrise was enough to remind me that things do change.”
“Ready for the Dawn” allowed her to be honest, weaving a melody of rediscovered hope through an equally beautiful piano line. The new single speaks to people in the depths of mental health challenge, pointing to the promises of God. This song builds from the bottom as the listener comes alongside Lucy on her journey from the bleak depths of uncertainty towards the glimmers of light found in the morning.
To Dwell As One
FAITHFUL’s third single from their upcoming project focusing on Psalms of action is called “To Dwell As One,” a song rooted in Psalm 133. The Scriptural passage centers on unity and equates it to the imagery of oil,
"It is as precious as the sacred oil flowing from the head of the high priest, Aaron, dripping down his beard" (verse 2).
Sarah Kroger, who leads the new song alongside Jillian Edwards and Tamar Chipp explains, “In a sacramental church context, oil is used a lot in the sacraments of healing. Unity is a space of healing for us.” FAITHFUL leans into the pain we all feel, pointing out that certain wounds can only heal from within the confines of a community. With “To Dwell As One”, they invite listeners to a place where God’s love can be found and be given in turn.
You Got Me
ICF Worship wrote "You Got Me" to remind people – particularly the Church – of the importance of holding on to Jesus amidst the chaos and changes we all face. Acknowledging the tendency to get distracted in an ever-changing and uncertain world the Swiss band share a core message of encouragement to anchor our faith in Christ. Taking inspiration from Psalm 18, the new single worships Jesus as the unshakable rock that stands forever. ICF Worship’s new song is a joyful and energetic declaration of praise, emphasizing the need to continuously worship and rely on the Lord in all circumstances. “You Got Me” is marked by a theme of gratitude to God as worshippers return to the steadfastness He gifts those who rely on Him.
El Cordero Y El Leon
Unified Sound releases “El Cordero y El Leon,” a new Latin rendition of “Lion and the Lamb” featuring singer Pete Rodriguez. This song praises and exalts Jesus Christ for His multifaceted presence, reflecting on His sovereignty and majesty, as well as His love and sacrifice. Their heart is to bring this powerful song to Latin America and beyond, offering a compelling arrangement that will hopefully reach new people groups. With this new release from their upcoming live album, Unified Sound desires for listeners to receive fresh inspiration and have a visual for Jesus Christ as both the powerful Lion of Judah and the gentle Lamb of God.
