SARAH KROGER: LENT SERIES (TRUST)
Sarah Kroger invites us into a soothing time of reflection, worship and prayer during the time of Lent.
Week Three
One summer when I was in college I served as a missionary at a summer camp. Every week we would take a new group of teenagers through a ropes course. One of my least favorite elements was the trust fall. One lucky participant would stand on the 6 ft. tall platform, close their eyes, and fall back into the arms of the rest of the group, trusting they would be caught.
Sometimes trust is like falling into the arms of the unknown.
Sometimes trust is like walking down a road that doesn’t make sense.
Sometimes trust is like waiting for spring to come in the dead of winter.
In many ways, Lent is like a boot camp for growing in trust. It’s a season meant to show us any areas of our life where we are turning to anything other than God to satisfy our hearts. We want quick fixes. We don’t like sitting with our feelings. Instant gratification is so much easier than waiting for the Lord’s plan to unfold.
You’ll never know what it feels like to be caught by the parachute of God’s faithfulness unless you first jump.
Here are some questions to pray through this week:
Do you trust that God will provide for whatever you need?
Do you trust that God alone can satisfy every longing of your heart?
What area of your life, if any, have you not given over to Him yet?
One of my favorite prayer resources for growing in trust is the Litany of Trust by the Sisters of Life. Pray this prayer for a few days straight and I guarantee you things will shift in your heart.
