NEW WORSHIP FRIDAY: Matt Redman, Anchor Hymns, The Spirituals & ICF Worship

God the Son

After eight years since his last Christmas release, Matt Redman introduces “God The Son,” a new original single for the season.

Setting off to pen a song about the incarnation, he was conscious of the familiarity that this story can breed in spite of its depth. The new song hopes to bring a renewed sense of mystery and wonder to it, as Matt Redman added that, “Songwriting is always about trying to sing a universal theme in a unique way.”

With reverence, “God The Son” tells of the stunning thought of the King of Heaven taking on flesh and entering the world in love, even unto death. It invites the church to sing this story, believing that it becomes ever more present to us and alive in us every time.

With this new poignant song, Matt Redman announces an upcoming Christmas worship EP releasing on November 15.

Beloved

Anchor Hymns presents “Beloved,” a live album recorded at Black Abbey, a brewery in the heart of Nashville, Tenn. The new release is the first of two projects recorded in meaningful places for the city’s community, with the second album set to release in the spring of 2025.

“Beloved” features 14 songs exploring friendship and relationship with God and how it in turn shapes our relationship with one another. It connects the dots between the mundane and the divine with sacred songs recorded in a commonplace bar. Anchor Hymns believes that if God can’t be there, then he is not anywhere. From this joyful realization, they invite kindred hearts to sing songs that anchor humanity to something greater.

This album leans into gospel and blues, trading the keys for the warmth and groove of a Hammond organ and infusing guitar solos wherever possible. “Beloved” is an open and accessible spiritual and musical edification that gives space for those who may find it difficult to engage in typical four-chord modern worship.

Abide With Me

The Spirituals presents their awaited new release, “The Hymns Project.” Formed in 2020 by artist and creative director, Junior Garr, with arranger and conductor, Marsha Morrison, this award-winning choir celebrates Black History through soul-stirring music.

This new EP features five songs that embody The Spirituals’ journey of reimagining hymns, breathing new life into timeless songs and telling God’s grand story in a fresh manner. Their gripping choir arrangements and captivating performances invite a new generation to embrace the heritage of these sacred songs.

Based in London, The Spirituals have graced renowned venues like Lambeth Palace, St Paul's Cathedral, and even Wembley Arena. With “The Hymns Project,” they hope to continue growing their reach of people and fostering a deeper connection with God by presenting renditions of hymns that have transcended generations, carrying the message of God's love and hope.

Go and Tell

ICF Worship’s new single “Go And Tell” is a dynamic song that seeks to ignite a passion for sharing the message of Jesus with boldness and joy. With lyrics that remind listeners to go where God leads, raise a shout for his name, and carry the fire of his love, “Go and Tell” is a call to action for believers everywhere.

ICF Worship commented on their purpose when writing “Go And Tell,” saying, “From the dynamic verses to the soul-stirring bridge, this song is designed to awaken hearts.”

The song is a statement of faith that lifts the name of Jesus and encourages the church to boldly proclaim his glory around the world.
