NEW WORSHIP FRIDAY: Songs From The Soil, LEELAND, ICF Worship, Vineyard Worship & Paul Wilbur Collection
'Fighting For My Heart' is the debut single from Songs From The Soil, a growing
community of UK worship artists and songwriters. The new song, led by Philippa Hanna and Noel Robinson, was originally written by KXC’s Rich di Castiglione and LA-based songwriter Jordan Frye for those wrestling with issues of self-hatred and self-harm, although it has become an anthem of hope to many others too. 'Fighting For My Heart' is based on the closing verses in Romans 8, exhorting God’s people and celebrating how nothing can separate us from the love of God - not even our own brokenness. In the chorus, echoes of Psalms 139 and 23 highlight the liturgical thread running through 'Fighting For My Heart'. "We pray that this song can become an anthem of hope and a song of deliverance for all who have no hope left for themselves," says Rich di Castiglione. 'Fighting For My Heart' introduces the stripped-back, communal, and deeply honest feel that captures what Songs From The Soil is all about.
LEELAND introduce 'You’re Not Done', the fourth single from their 2023 album 'City of God'. The newest song from the Texas-based band is deep in compassion and in hope, filled with the resurrection power of Christ. 'You’re Not Done' is driven by defining lyrics:
"If you still have breath in your lungs, you’re not done"
These words dropped into lead singer Leeland Mooring’s lap as he sat at his piano,
processing the recent miraculous recovery of a close friend who fought for his life during the pandemic. As this person was slipping in and out of consciousness, they recalled hearing Leeland’s voice singing assuming someone had one of the band’s CD’s playing though they never were. "I was overwhelmed by the goodness of God and the real struggle we face in the midst of death," Leeland comments. 'You’re Not Done' doesn’t deny the sorrow and suffering of the human experience, but meets it with the presence of the Author of life. LEELAND's new catchy single screams hope in the face of defeat, reminding the listener that each breath we are given is proof of God’s good plan of redemption. 'You’re Not Done' is an expansive track with slight country-pop accents and an overall sense of healing truth being sung over the Church. "It’s simple, if you are breathing, you are not finished," Leeland concludes, "may we be able to say like [the apostle] Paul that to live is Christ and to die is gain."
ICF Worship had wanted to make a new instrumental album for a long time - one that people could use for moments of intimacy with the Lord – and they are starting 2023 with 'Moments'. This piano-led project features some of their most-loved songs from past and recent albums, rearranged to create instrumental melodies to inspire and enrich time spent in the presence of God. ICF Worship created a stripped back album for anyone longing for moments of peace in everyday life. 'Moments' also highlights older worship songs for listeners to rediscover them in a new light.
'I Speak Jesus', the first single from the upcoming 2023 Vineyard Worship EP, 'Sing Together – Live from Urbana', is a prayer and prophetic declaration of hope that speaks light and life into the dark places.
